Bei MARCO!

Some restaurants are truly so special that I honestly rather not share them with you, but as the number of readers is still countable ;) I take the risk....

Please meet Marco: he and his team are running my absolute favourite italian restaurant CASA DI MODICA in Cologne.

I already love his starters (almost all of some them) but especially the Baby Calamari as well as the Tuna Tartar, which he by the way only has on the menue if he was satiesfied with the quality of his local fish market.
As main dish you may choose between PASTA, MEAT or FISH. I strongly recommend to go for the fish or meat dishes as these are really amazing. No matter which one you choose: all of them are really good. For the last couple of weeks I feel in love with his fish dishes (SEEWOLF and SEEZUNGE ! are delicious! Served with fresh vegetables of the season), but also the filet steak as well as the KALBSKOTELETT are delicious.
And if you are really lucky he may serve a SEMI FREDDO as dessert. He does not always have that on his dessert menue, but if so you start dreaming of this taste for years. I usually do not care for dessert, but SEMI FREDDO is a MUST HAVE, I mean it.

If you have a chance to small talk with Marco between the dishes please do and enjoy his awesome charming dialect. He always makes you feel like having at least a bit of Italy right in the heard of downtown Cologne.

FISCHERMANNS'

My first post is dedicated to the restaurant that is since years one of my really loved ones in Cologne especially if you feel like eating in a fancy „party-kind“ of atmosphere.
It’s the perfect place for a Girls Night out or your start into a saturday night if you want to go out after.
The cute guys (unfortunately most of them do not care for girl`s) at FISCHERMANN`s will always offer you a great time with fun music, always interesting guests to whisper about, international cuisine and beautiful decoration.
Definetly try the „Fischermanns’ Teller“ (Surf `n Turf) as well as the BASA (spanish white wine, one of my most loved ones).

I do not care too much for the other main dishes(except if it is aspargus time!) as they are ok, but not as good as the menue pretends. So I tend to not experiment.

But definetly go for the starters (oysters or tuna sashimi is always really good).

And if you are looking for a drink & snack after shopping definetly check out their second „restaurant“ downtown right next to Apropos-concept store.
You will spend hours enjoying drinks, maybe snack a salad (try DER KLASSIKER) and do some people watching ;)
Eating is more fun at their original restaurant at Rathenauplatz, but maybe that`s just me...
